Our Inside Out Tours adventure crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and exploring DUMBO might’ve occurred under a constant drizzle, but hey, New York’s spirit shines even in the soggiest weather! Instead of snapping those classic postcard pics, we got a much more “real New Yorker” experience—misty skyline and all.

Trudging Across the Iconic Bridge
Armed with a colorful umbrella, we walked with our upbeat guide, who made even Brooklyn Bridge trivia sound thrilling—think secret vaults and epic engineering feats from 1869. The views—even buried under clouds and raindrops—were seriously impressive. Lower Manhattan peeked through the mist, and the hustle below felt miles away as we wandered from Manhattan to Brooklyn.

DUMBO: Cozy Streets, Stormy Vibes
Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass (aka DUMBO) was buzzing, rain or not. Our guide kept it lively, pointing out quirky art galleries and stories from Brooklyn’s industrial past. We ducked under awnings to stay semi-dry, but honestly, dodging puddles made the cobblestone streets even more memorable. No Instagram-perfect lookouts, but there was definitely a charm in seeing the crowd scramble for cover—genuine NYC energy!

Rainy-Day Eats: Pizza & Lobster Roll Dream Team
After the tour, it was chow time. A couple classic NY slices disappeared in seconds—ask anyone and they’ll say DUMBO’s pizza game is strong, especially at Grimaldi’s, Juliana’s, or even Front Street Pizza for a casual bite. The warm, chewy crust and gooey cheese totally made up for the soggy socks.

Meanwhile, Grace went full Maine with a lobster roll from Luke’s Lobster, just beneath the bridge. Maine-style means chilled lobster meat, tucked inside a buttery, split-top roll with a hint of lemon and mayo—simple, perfect, and so satisfying even when eaten under a leaky umbrella.
Subway Dash to Queens
Windblown and stuffed, we dove into the subway for the ride back to Queens. There were definitely some “Is this water in my shoes?” moments, but that’s just part of the story, right? Rain makes the city feel alive—and lucking into world-class pizza and lobster rolls at the end is peak New York living.
So, the next time someone asks, “Was it worth walking the Brooklyn Bridge in the rain?” just know the answer is absolutely yes—because every NYC trip needs a drizzle-soaked detour and a legendary slice.
