We just had the most awesome visit to The People’s House: A White House Experience, right in the heart of DC, just a stone’s throw from the real White House! This place blew us away with its mix of history, tech, and interactive fun—an absolute must-see if you’re ever in town.
Walking in, it felt like stepping into a giant, super cool dollhouse version of the White House. There’s this huge 1:5 scale replica of the White House’s South Façade that’s perfect for snapping photos and geeking out over every detail. What really got us excited was the immersive theater where you’re magically transported into the rooms of the White House—from the Green Room to the Red Room. The digital walls and interactive displays made the history come alive in the most unexpected ways.

Now, the highlight? The Oval Office. Yup, a full-scale, exact replica of the real thing! We took turns sitting behind the Resolute Desk, channeling our inner President, and even snapped pics to prove it. It’s crazy how spot-on the size and details are—it almost felt like we were about to get some executive orders.

Upstairs, the experience got even deeper. The People’s Voices Gallery is a brilliant mix of stories and interactive portraits that tell you about the fascinating folks who have worked in the White House but don’t always get the spotlight. Plus, we “attended” a State Dinner and sat in a replica Cabinet Room where you can actually join in discussions and decision-making—it’s like being part of history in the making!

The whole visit takes about an hour, but honestly, we could have stayed longer. Bonus points: it’s free to visit, though they do appreciate donations, and it’s perfect for families, history buffs, and curious minds of all ages.
If you’re in DC and want a uniquely fun and educational way to connect with American history and politics, mark The People’s House on your map. Trust us, it’s way more than just a museum—it’s an experience!
