We set out from our Airbnb around 10 in the morning, ready for a day filled with art, fresh air, and a bit of small-town charm. The two-hour drive brought us into the rolling Hudson Valley, where the late summer landscape made the perfect backdrop for our destination: the Storm King Art Center.

Arriving at the expansive sculpture park felt like stepping into another world. With over 500 acres to explore, it can be overwhelming at first glance, so we started by hopping on the tram. The ride gave us a wonderful overview of the grounds and a sense of just how massive and diverse the collection is. Giant sculptures dotted the open meadows, others blended seamlessly into groves of trees, and some seemed to rise right out of the hillsides.

After the tram, we set off on foot to see several works up close. There’s something magical about walking among these monumental pieces, where art and landscape merge together. The open skies, the rolling terrain, and the sheer scale of the sculptures invite you to slow down and take it all in.

By the afternoon, we were ready for a change of pace, so we drove over to the nearby town of Beacon. Nestled along the Hudson River, Beacon has a lively yet relaxed atmosphere that makes it a fun place to wander. We grabbed lunch at a local burger spot—simple, hearty, and just what we needed after a morning of walking. With full stomachs, we strolled around town, browsing shops and enjoying the creative energy that seems to run through the streets.

As the day wound down, we made our way back to our Airbnb, tired but happy. It was one of those days that blended art, nature, and community in just the right measure—leaving us with a fresh appreciation for the Hudson Valley’s unique character.
