Today, Lucky (our beloved furry companion!) joined us for an incredible journey back in time to the hallowed grounds of Concord and Lexington. We embarked on a trip filled with history, beautiful scenery, and the perfect amount of fresh air.
Our adventure began bright and early at the North Bridge Visitor Center in Concord. We highly recommend starting here! The visitor center offers a fantastic orientation to the events of April 19, 1775. We settled in and watched their 30-minute movie, which did an excellent job of setting the stage and bringing to life the tension and bravery of that fateful day. It truly helped us appreciate the significance of what we were about to see.

Armed with our newfound knowledge, we then launched into the Battle of Lexington and Concord Driving & Walking Audio Tour by Action Tour Guides. This app-based tour was an absolute game-changer! Having the audio guide narrating as we drove and walked made the experience so much more immersive and informative. It pointed out key landmarks, shared fascinating anecdotes, and really painted a vivid picture of the skirmishes and movements of the British regulars and colonial militia. Lucky seemed to enjoy the car rides between stops, sleeping with great interest!

We followed the route, stopping at various significant points along the way, imagining the “shot heard ’round the world” and the bravery of those who stood up for liberty. The audio tour did a fantastic job of guiding us through the events chronologically, making it easy to follow the progression of the battle.

Our journey culminated in Lexington at the historic Battle Green. Standing on that iconic patch of grass, where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired, was truly moving. The air itself seemed to hum with the echoes of history. We took our time, reflecting on the courage of the Minutemen and the immense sacrifices made. Lucky, ever the good sport, enjoyed a final stretch and sniff around before we called it a day.

If you’re looking for a captivating blend of history, natural beauty, and a chance to step back into one of the most pivotal moments in American history, a trip to Concord and Lexington is an absolute must. And if you have a well-behaved furry friend like Lucky, many of the outdoor areas are perfect for them to join in on the adventure! We came away with a deeper appreciation for our nation’s beginnings and a collection of wonderful memories.
