Last night, we decided to take our Toronto sightseeing to new heights—literally—by heading up the CN Tower at 8pm. The city was just starting to glow with evening lights, and while the air was a little hazy, we could still make out the sparkling outlines of downtown and the wide, silvery sweep of Lake Ontario. It felt a bit like looking at the city through a soft-focus lens.

Of course, we couldn’t stop at the regular viewing level. We went all the way to the “top,” the highest point you can go in the tower, for the ultimate view. Even with the haze, there was something thrilling about being that high above Toronto—tiny cars creeping along far below, buildings looking like toy blocks, and the water stretching out toward the horizon.

Sure, we couldn’t see for miles and miles, but it didn’t matter. The magic was in the experience: standing above it all, feeling like the sky was close enough to touch, and knowing we were at one of Canada’s most iconic landmarks.
